"BANDEROLA SANTA MARIA" HORWEEN Horsehide (AVOCADO & GREEN TEA Dye & Dualtone)
Made with 7oz HORWEEN horsehide, tanned alongside their shell cordovan. Rich in character, this piece brings together layered dye, contrasting threadwork, subtle etched details, and natural grain patterns, creating a composition that continues to evolve with time and use.
"Banderola Santa María" is Inspired by the sun-weathered, stacked houses of rural Mexico. The leather is tanned using avocado pits and green tea leaves over several days, then finished with a hand-applied marbled green dye to capture the depth of earthen facades. It features a signature avocado and teacup etching. The four thread colors (red, leaf green, yellow, and navy) represent the colorful, stacked banderolas (flags) that drape across narrow alleyways overhead.
